Normal Driving Lesson

This driving lesson focuses on making sure learner drivers are trained to safely drive according to standard. It also covers other aspects such as parking, and making three point turns. Students will be given a section from the “How to pass your PDA” booklet to read at home as homework, which will be discussed in the following lesson. This enables them to be aware of what examiners look for in a driving test, and to be able to include that in their practice.

KeyS 2 DRIVE

Keys to drive is a government program that’s aimed to increase safety awareness amongst young drivers. The main reason behind the program is that red P platers are overrepresented when it comes to car crashes according to insurance companies. The goal of the program is to encourage learner drivers to put safety first in order to achieve 6 months of red P plates with zero harm.

The lesson structure consists of an inhouse pamphlet presentation about road safety, which goes for about 15 minutes. This is followed by a 45 minute driving lesson. A parent or a supervising driver is required to attend both sections of the lesson.

Learner drivers are also required to register online at www.keys2drive.com.au, where they will receive a free lesson ID code upon registration. You’ll need to present this code to Haitham on the day.

City Driving

This is a 2-hour lesson built around the CBD area. You’ll learn how to navigate city streets while being amongst city traffic, which will also include pedestrians. This is achieved by starting out on a quiet street and then working our way up to St Georges terrace (a very busy street). As an added benefit to the City Drive, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to learn about (and master) parallel parking.

Mock driving Test

You’ll learn everything you need to know to pass, and about the mistakes that can result in an instant fail – such as the following:

• Not stopping at a stop sign
• Anything that causes the examiner to intervene even by slamming the brakes (or handbrake) or grabbing the wheel to prevent a collision
• Not looking up in the mirror before breaking

Taking part in the Mock Driving Test allows you to get familiar with the roads around the licence centre, and to practice driving in its surrounding area (approximately within a 5km radius of where the licence centre is).

Night Driving

Driving at night delivers an experience that is completely different to day time. The main aspect that differentiates a night lesson from a regular day driving lesson is the variance in lighting conditions. This makes it important to train the eyes to adapt accordingly. The lesson also focuses on anticipation. This is done by driving through some of the busiest restaurant strips on a Saturday night. A night lesson also presents the perfect time to get introduced to freeways, as they are not as busy.

Basic Car Maintenance

This lesson is done at the comfort of the clients home. This lesson lasers in on what vehicle checks need to be carried out on a weekly basis to ensure that your vehicle remains working like the well-oiled machine it was originally designed to be. The aim of the lesson is to equip students with preventative measures and the goal of preventing future breakdowns.
